  4. Detox Drink: The Master Cleanse Formula

Detox Drink: The Master Cleanse Formula
If you are planning a very restrictive cleanse, eating very little, you might find it helpful to try this drink. If you are feeling tired, and perhaps at the time you would usually have a cup of coffee or tea, this can be a healthy pick-me-up. It is taken from a detox called The Master Cleanse, but in this case we are suggesting it as an accompaniment to a gentle cleanse rather than as the central part of the cleanse. It might be best to plan to restrict how much of this drink you have each day (avoid it all together if you suffer from candida symptoms). Also, make sure that you are drinking plenty of water. Do follow the link at the end to see what Dr Haas suggests during a Master Cleanse diet. Continue reading →
  5. Dr Elson Haas's Detox Menu

    Dr Elson Haas's Detox Menu
This is a daily menu from Dr Elson Haas, a world-renowned nutritionist and detox expert. It is a very simple daily meal plan, with grains for breakfast and vegetables thereafter. If you like the idea, and can stick to it, it will certainly bring results. For the 'better butter' mixture we would recommend the new 'fresh' olive oil we have recently started stocking mixed with an organic butter and some flax oil. Elson Haas also recommends the Master Cleanse drink (I am about to post the recipe for that) and it can be a good pick-me-up and an aid to the overall detox. Continue reading →
  6. Preparation for Cleansing/Detox

    Preparation for Cleansing/Detox
We advise preparing over the weekend to give yourself a chance to approach the cleansing week slowly and have certain things ready in advance. For example, if you are working all week, it might be good to make some batches of soup and freeze them so you can have a healthy light meal easily. Or if you don't normally cook brown rice now is a good time to practice - rather than Monday night when you are tired and hungry! Continue reading →

Detoxing after Easter by Hannah Dare
Organico Bantry is now on Facebook, and during the week starting the 17th of April we will be putting up daily cleansing meal ideas and menu plans. If you would like to follow our suggestions for 3 days or the full week become a fan or look on our website. We will also give the information out instore during that week. It’s much easier to do a cleanse with a little support! Modern life tends to burden our digestive system. We eat unhealthy foods, we eat too much and we don’t give our bodies a chance to recover and flush out the toxins we ingest from our food, the environment and the alcohol we consume. Traditionally many cultures had fasts built into the year, like Lent or Ramadan. Unfortunately the tradition of fasting has waned in Ireland and this means that our digestive systems need a little break. Continue reading →
  9. Candida Diet Sheet

    Candida Diet Sheet
Please note: if you have a medical condition you shouldn’t make any changes to your diet without first consulting your GP or health practitioner. If you are trying to eliminate Candida from your system, you have to follow a very strict diet for at least (in my experience) 2 weeks; but it really is the longer the better. You probably also have to take a number of supplements to help eliminate the yeast from your body. Please call in to the shop and discuss your supplement needs with one of our staff. Foods to Eat: All vegetables except mushrooms (though you should go easy on the spuds as they become sugar very quickly and can exacerbate a candida condition), all lean proteins including fish, chicken, lean meats (all organic preferably or at least antibiotic-free), brown bread, brown rice, eggs, lentils, peas and beans, organic natural yoghurt, cottage cheese, apples in limited amounts. Flax seed oils, all nuts and seeds, rye or spelt crackers. Continue reading →
  10. Real Cloth Nappies Online (Cork, Ireland)

We are adding Little Comfort Real Cloth Nappies to our Online Shop. We are offering a great limited offer of 20% off on the Little Comfort Full Starter Pack, which contains all you need to make Real Nappies work. The secret is to have enough nappies so that you can wash every 2/3 days or twice a week, and the Full Pack allows this flexibility. Little Comfort is an Irish company based in Donegal. Their nappies are very well designed, with one size fitting new-born up to toddler, and are made from bamboo which is very absorbent. They are a great fit, and close with poppers, not a pin in sight! Each nappy comes with 2 boosters that pop in which make them very easy to dry. I can say from experience that these nappies are easy to use, even my husband recommends them! Why Use Real Nappies? Real Nappies save the environment - in Ireland approximately 600,000 nappies are used every day and the environmental impact of this hardly bears thinking about. Disposable nappies take 100's of years to break down, not to mention the environmental cost in producing and shipping them. So using Real Nappies is a very easy way to reduce you carbon footprint. Real Nappies also save you money. Continue reading →
