We often see Hippocrates quote “Let thy food be thy medicine and thy medicine be thy food’ but what guidance do we take from these pearls of wisdom? My understanding of these phrases is that our diet can be either very healing or it can kill us too early - and unfortunately too many of us eat the cheapest, most convenient ‘food’ we see rather than paying attention to what our body actually needs. We are overwhelmed by confusing advertising, tempted by easily available treats and unhealthy snacks, and the result is that many people in Western ‘developed’ nations are getting sicker and sicker.
