You know we’re all about doing our bit to protect the earth through more sustainable shopping. But who better to spread that message than our community? After all, they’re the people who, month after month, choose to shop sustainably.

So we asked our community: what’s an earth-friendly product you get from Organico you wouldn’t want to live without?

Here’s what they had to say…

Sustainable Food: ‘We don't have digestive issues any more’

Spoonful Botanical supports my immune system and I simply love the flavour. It’s versatile and you can reuse the jar.
- Mary, sustainable shopper from Bantry

Fresh organic veg replaced cans for me. I love it for its health and vitamins. It is worth 100 per cent to get it.
- Brid, sustainable shopper from Bantry

The organic oatflakes are delicious, full of goodness, healthy food, and its stickiness is good for one's heart. It replaced ordinary, non-organic porridge. Healthy, organic porridge at a reasonable price.
- Máirtín, sustainable shopper (and porridge lover) in Connemara

Gimber is so refreshing mixed with water and its ginger is so beneficial for health. Great for when you’re thirsty and very good for digestion. The big size is good value.
- Maria, sustainable shopper from Spain

I've been using organic spelt flour for years, because I bake bread, cakes, tarts, strudels at home (organic spelt flour is much healthier than wheat flour). I simply feel good when I eat it. It's healthy and it tastes nice. We don't have digestive issues any more.
- Petra Mesko, sustainable shopper (and baker) from Limerick

My daughter loves the seaweed pesto sauce. I've been buying 1 in a plastic tub but much prefer glass containers. It's a lovely flavour. Good quality ingredients. Give it a try. You won't be disappointed.
- Frances O Toole, sustainable shopper from Bray

Sustainable Personal Care: ‘Less harmful than anything from Boots’

I love using the Rosewater because it is pure and has no alcohol. It is gentle and a natural product for my skin. It is easy to use and good value. Try it in the small size and see if you like it.
- Harriette, sustainable shopper form Belmont

I’ve replaced liquid hand soap in plastic bottles with Palm Free Irish Soap. It’s zero waste, made in Ireland, and smells amazing. Great value as well.
- Mahelia Wolfertz, sustainable shopper from Germany

I stopped taking non organic/vegan supplements and started Viridian Supplements. Great quality and efficacy.
- Carmel

Naturtint hair colour replaced salon colours and drug store hair colouring kits which caused allergic reactions. It covers grey and there’s no allergic reaction. I have been using it now for several years and always happy with the result. My hair looks and feels good. Inexpensive. Try it. Less harmful than anything from Boots.
- Denise, sustainable shopper from Leitrim

Sustainable Cleaning: ‘better than the usual gunk we are sold in supermarkets’

Hannah facing a shelf in Organico shop. Holding a bottle from the shelf in one hand and a dusting cloth in the other.

I love Sonnet 5 litre laundry liquid. It saves me from buying loads of plastic bottles or using Fairy laundry liquid. It takes so little to get my clothes clean and smelling gorgeous. It will save you money and get your clothes really clean.
- Breda, sustainable shopper from Macroom

Lilly's or Bio-D or Sonett cleaning products do not cause skin allergy or sensitivity or smell nasty. Genuinely no synthetics unlike greenwashing products with sneaky fragrances who boast synthetics are good for the environment. Doesn't leave toxic fragrance on your dishes, doesn't hurt skin. Works better than the usual gunk we are sold in supermarkets.
- Mary O'Donnell, sustainable shopper from back of the beyond, planet earth

I got a new eco washing machine and when I got it, the manual said I could not use ecoballs (I used Ecozone for years). I reluctantly switched to Sonett laundry powder. I have been very impressed and it's a household staple now. It works out economically (I don't use much), it cleans well and it’s not riddled with synthetic scent.
- H., sustainable shopper from Co. Leitrim

Who better to inspire others than you?

If there’s a sustainable product you get from Organico you wouldn’t want to live without… tell us about it! ([email protected]) We’ll add it to our list of community faves.

It’s lovely to learn from each other. But also, to inspire others who might not be in this community yet to shop more sustainably.
