Breakfast tray on bed filled mug of coffee, bowl of granola, croissant, and a flower bouquet in a decorative ceramic.

With Valentine’s Day coming up… and the world still feeling a bit topsy-turvy… there’s never been a better time to treat yourself to a simple but lavish breakfast in bed. Hardly any prep involved - so you can make the most of a relaxing morning in bed.

The art of breakfast in bed

The main ethos behind a French-style breakfast in bed is to keep it simple. Simple yet elegant.

Don’t get us wrong, we love a good fry as much as anyone. But when your intention is to relax, all that time cooking then cleaning defeats the point, doesn’t it?

Here’s how to put together an indulgent, but almost no work necessary, French-style breakfast in bed.

Order everything you need for home delivery. And if you want to delight a loved one you haven’t seen lately, you can order the same selection to be shipped anywhere in Ireland.

The essentials of a French-inspired breakfast in bed

Pastry, Bread, and Spreads

Pastries are a must. But not just any pastries. If it’s French-inspired, it has to be croissants.

These organic butter croissants are ready after a few minutes in the oven (which is as close to cooking as you’ll get for this breakfast).

And since they’re made with butter - as croissants are meant to be - you don’t have to worry about cheap, hydrogenated fats spoiling your leisurely breakfast in bed.

A superior croissant deserves a superior jam. St Dalfour’s delicious fruit-sweetened jams are the perfect complement.

Now for the bread.

To continue with the French theme, nestle a tartine of sliced organic spelt baguette and naturally sweetened chocolate hazelnut spread alongside your croissants and jam.

A single cut flower strewn across the plate isn’t necessary, but it’d be a nice touch.

Honey-sweetened Granola

Add a little extra substance with granola.

Our own housemade honey-sweetened granola hits a pleasing balance between wholesome and indulgent. It’s made with 100% whole foods ingredients, while giving you all the crunch and sweetness you want from an amazing granola.

Serve your bowl of granola with a small pitcher of dairy-free milk. Make ours organic oat, please.

The Drinks

Good to have a selection of drinks to slowly sip the morning away at your leisure.

An organic French Press coffee (this one's roasted in Ireland) is the ideal pairing for your French-inspired breakfast. If you're like Hannah and you love a morning latte, make sure you have a barista oat milk as well.

A glass of organic orange juice fits in nicely as well. It also invites you to add a splash of organic prosecco if that strikes your fancy.

Then, as your relaxing morning turns into a relaxing afternoon, be prepared with an organic tea - this one’s an Organico favourite.

A Pleasurable Read

Now all that’s missing from your cosy breakfast in bed is a good book.
