What a treat it was to see so many happy faces at The Organico Sea Swim for World Oceans Day. With the sea being such a huge part of our lives here in Bantry, we thought what better way to celebrate our sea-bond than to invite the community out for a dip?

A windy day and LOTS of jellyfish were no match for our spirits

Despite the winds and a frankly surprising amount of jellyfish, more than 30 of you showed up at the gorgeous Abbey Beach on the 8th of June, ready and eager to make waves.

From seasoned swimmers to toe-dippers, the beach was abuzz with laughter, chatter and shared moments of admiration for the beauty surrounding us.

But our gathering was about more than just having a splash…

Splashing for a cause: your wave of support for the Kelp Campaign

You also helped us raise funds for a cause close to our hearts, Bantry Bay - Protect Our Native Kelp Forest. 

Thanks to your generous donations, we're ecstatic to announce that we raised €400. 

With our promise to match your contributions, we're sending a total of €800 to the Kelp Campaign. 

That's a substantial boost to their ongoing efforts to protect our precious underwater ecosystems. We couldn't have done it without you!

We’ll never forget the smiles shared over tea and brownies

Looking back at these photos, we're filled with gratitude and love for this beautiful community. Our collective love for the ocean came through in each smile, each shared cup of tea and brownie and each dip into the cool waters of Abbey Beach.

Who knew a simple sea swim could result in such a wave of positivity?

That’s why we’re beyond excited to make The Organico Sea Swim an annual event.

World Oceans Day may only come once a year, but we know there’s a thriving community here always willing to celebrate and protect our wonderful oceans, the kelp forests, and all the life they support.
