Meet our guest experts with answers to your period questions

Ruby Raut is the founder of WUKA award-winning period underwear. She’s an environmental scientist who was listed in the 2019 Top Women in Femtech.

Ruby grew up in Nepal where shame about periods was widespread. During menstruation, she was sent to her aunt's house and wasn't allowed to go out in the sun, look at men, or touch plants.

After moving to the UK, she was astonished by the wide range of menstrual products available. But then noticed that most of them were neither comfortable nor leak-proof, and they certainly weren’t eco-friendly.

Through WUKA (which stands for Wake Up Kick Ass), Ruby is on a mission to replace plastic-riddled disposable pads and tampons with the world’s most comfortable and sustainable period underwear.

Alison Cullen has worked in the health food trade since 1987, starting out as a retailer before training as a nutritional practitioner. She has a clinic in Ayrshire, Scotland, and has worked as Education Manager for A.Vogel since 1997.

Alison was motivated to train in nutritional therapy by seeing the amazing difference that could be made to her customers’ health by relatively simple dietary adjustments and nutritional supplementation.

As a practitioner, she’s constantly delighted by the positive effects that a holistic, naturopathic approach can have on a wide range of ailments.

Sarah Hyland is A.Vogel’s herbal medicine product advisor who has 20 years’ experience working in health food shops.

Sarah’s speciality is women’s health. You can find her expert advice on A.Vogel’s website and YouTube channel as well as in Healthy Way magazine where she's a contributor.
