This handcrafted matcha whisk, known as chasen in Japanese, is made from a single piece of white bamboo and features 100 finely carved bristles. It plays a vital role in the traditional Japanese tea ceremony and is designed to evenly blend matcha powder with water, allowing the tea’s full aroma and texture to develop without lumps. Suitable for both usucha (thin tea) and koicha (thick tea), it is ideal for beginners and professionals alike and can be used with all types of Japanese powdered teas.

Each whisk is carefully handmade, a process that takes approximately two hours using precise techniques and traditional tools. With proper care, it provides long-lasting performance and enhances the overall matcha experience.

Directions

• For best results and to maintain shape, dry the chasen on a whisk holder (kusenaoshi).
