It is commonly used to support the body during colds and flu and can help soothe irritated skin while encouraging healthy cell renewal.

This ethically harvested essential oil originates from Bulgaria and is produced by steam distillation. Oil is drawn from the stalks and flowering tops of Lavandula angustifolia to create a thin, clear essential oil.

As a middle note, lavender provides body and balance within an aromatic blend, with a fragrance that can last for several hours. It blends particularly well with Bergamot, Clary Sage and Geranium.

Lavender originated in the Southern Mediterranean and is now widespread throughout much of Western Europe. Its name is derived from the Latin word "lavare", meaning "to wash", reflecting its historic use for fragrancing bath water. It was also traditionally scattered across floors as a strewing herb, releasing its soothing fragrance when walked upon.

Directions

• For insect bites, dilute a few drops of lavender essential oil in a carrier oil and apply to the affected area to help calm itching.
• To subtly fragrance clothes, add 3 drops of lavender essential oil to a drawer liner and place it inside a chest of drawers.
• For external use only.
• Do not apply undiluted essential oil directly to the skin.
• Avoid contact with sensitive areas, including the eyes.
• Keep out of reach of children and do not use on children under 3 years old.
• Consult a healthcare professional before using essential oils during pregnancy or nursing.
• Store in a cool, dry place and use within 12 months of opening.
