Hygiena offers a unique organic dark brown soft raw cane sugar, developed after nearly 30 years of expertise and search by sugar specialist Jos Muyldermans. This artisanal cassonade basterd sugar is created through a careful blend of finely sieved organic cane sugar and organic cane sugar molasses, sourced from Paraguay, Brazil, Argentina, and India depending on seasonal availability. The sugar is transported to Europe where it is sieved, remixed with molasses, and packed in compostable packaging in Sint-Niklaas. It is the only organic basterd sugar on the market made without caramel and retains the nutritional components specific to sugar cane.
The high molasses content gives it a rich aroma and soft texture, making it a flavourful choice for a variety of recipes. It is especially delightful when used as a topping on pancakes or incorporated into baked goods for added depth and sweetness.
