Masaalon Bengali Mango Chutney (210g)

The obvious accompaniment with this chutney is poppadums or perhaps cheese. This is also a delicious base for any curry or stir fry.

Ingredients: Mangoes (56%), Panch Phoran (equal mix of cumin, fennel, mustard, nigella & fenugreek seeds), Peanut Oil, Ground Ginger, Chilli Powder, Garam Masala (Coriander, Cinnamon, Cumin, Black Pepper, Ginger, Cloves), Salt, Sugar, Vinegar.

Masaalon's Story...

"Masaalon (translating to ‘condiments’ in Hindi) began its life in my home kitchen based up in Donegal during the COVID-19 national lockdown. As a result of the pandemic, I was forced to move home after spending some time living in New York. Back living at home with no job, the only place I found myself was the kitchen.

Working with ingredients available in the local Asian supermarket, I began experimenting with recipes, jarring them and selling on to family members and friends. People kept coming back for more and more, I had my poor mum demented in the kitchen everyday. Our local artisan shop got in contact and became interested in stocking the products. Before I knew it, it snowballed, we had many customers and are currently stocked in every corner of the country. Much to Mum's delight, we now operate out of a commercial kitchen.

I’ve always been a fan of anything sweet and flavoursome to add my meals, this is where my small obsession with chutneys developed. Chutney originated in the Indian subcontinent and all our recipes are inspired by their culinary traditions. We use no colourings, preservatives or any of that other nasty stuff. All our products are vegan and coeliac friendly.

Our mantra is that every spice and ingredient has a purpose, and they all work together in harmony to produce a little jar of goodness. Each product is extremely versatile and can be used on just about anything. We have tonnes of ideas in the pipeline and can't wait to share them with you soon. Until then, sit tight!"
