First solo art exhibition by Mealagh Valley Artist

During the month of April local artist Máire O Leary originally from the Mealagh Valley will display her work in Organico Cafe, Glengariff Road, Bantry. Máire developed her love of painting in Dromclough NS under the expert guidance of Miss Peggy O' Sullivan. Since moving to Killarney she has attended a number of night classes in Killarney Community College where she developed her skills in oil and acrylic painting. Máire is a keen outdoor enthusiast and it is from landscape and nature that she draws her inspiration for her paintings. She says "I love to paint with the seasons so my paintings and palette often change with the colour of the seasons taking in autumn leaves and spring flowers. I also find myself habitually drawn to water and mountains and I think this must be a consequence of growing up in a valley opening into Bantry bay".

The medium used is oil or acrylics on canvas and the majority of the work is unframed which allows paintings to be sold at affordable prices. It also gives potential buyers the opportunity to frame or not as appropriate to individual taste and wall space. To view this emerging artists work why not take some time out to drop into Organico from Monday to Saturday for a cup of coffee and relax in the company of some wonderful landscapes of Cork and Kerry. Who knows you may even recognise one or two of the locations?
