Pregnancy massage, infant massage instruction, Lomi Lomi, sports massage and much more.
Noreen McCarthy is a very highly qualified and experienced massage therapist. I had heard very good things about her from friends who were her clients and I was very impressed when she came to ‘Babytalk’ (a Healthboard-run group that got parents of new babies together to learn and socialise). Noreen gave us a morning’s instruction on how to massage our babies, and her sensitivity and respect for the babies was very inspiring. She reminded us always to ask or inform our baby that we were going to give them some massage before we started, rather than just launching into it, and I though that was a good lesson to try to apply to other areas of interaction with Lucy, as so many times she must feel like she has no control over what is happening to her body!
From friends I have heard Noreen is very good for both pregnancy massage and for stronger deeper massage suitable for sporty people.
Find out more about the types of massage Noreen offers and how to contact her here.

€€€ For Saving Money €€€
By the time your baby is potty trained he or she could have had as many as 4000 to 6000 nappy changes, or more!! So whilst all parents will have become a dab hand at a swift nappy change, parents who choose disposables end up throwing away their hard earned cash along with the dirty nappy.
In Ireland we pay by weight for our rubbish, and on the whole if you are recycling, nappies will make up the greatest weight in your black bin bag. So not only are you paying to buy a nappy you only use once, you then have to pay to dispose of it too!!
Even with the initial outlay costs with washable nappies you can save yourself up to €1,500 Euros. If you plan on having more than one child you will be saving even more as you can use the same nappies again! To save even more money use washable wipes – you can them throw them in to wash with your nappies and you could yourself at least another €300. See DIY tips overleaf for how to make them.
Its a good idea, when you can, to get your washable nappies when you are pregnant, so they are ready to use when you are ready – or ask for them as a baby shower or birth gift.
For Saving The Planet
Halve your weekly rubbish! In Ireland 600,000 disposable nappies are used every day!
Disposable Nappies take 500 years to biodegrade in landfill – and release Greenhouse gases as they do so which contributes to climate change.
Using washable nappies may reduce your carbon footprint by up to 40%
Help you live lighter on the planet – so your children may continue to live as we do in the future.
Unlike disposables, washable nappies put parents in control of the impact they have on the environment.
Follow these washing guidelines for the best benefits:
• Use A rated appliances powered by green energy
• Wash in full loads at no more than 60 degrees
• Avoid tumble drying – hang outside or use an airer
• Store used nappies in a lidded bucket – no need to soak
• Use an eco detergent but don’t use fabric conditioners or chemical sanitisers
• Use washable liners and wipes/flannels
• Never iron your nappies!
• Pass them on – reuse on another baby or sell them on

We are adding Little Comfort Real Cloth Nappies to our Online Shop. For members of our Organico Baby Club we are offering a great deal on the Little Comfort Full Pack, which contains all you need to make Real Nappies work. The secret is to have enough nappies so that you can wash every 2/3 days or twice a week, and the Full Pack allows this flexibility.
Little Comfort is an Irish company based in Donnegal. Their nappies are very well designed, with one size fitting new-born up to toddler, and are made from bamboo which is very absorbent. They are a great fit, and close with poppers, not a pin in sight! Each nappy comes with 2 boosters that pop in which make them very easy to dry. I can say from experience that these nappies are easy to use, even my husband recommends them!
Why Use Real Nappies?
Real Nappies save the environment – in Ireland approximately 600,000 nappies are used every day and the environmental impact of this hardly bears thinking about. Disposable nappies take 100’s of years to break down, not to mention the environmental cost in producing and shipping them. So using Real Nappies is a very easy way to reduce you carbon footprint.
Real Nappies also save you money. Read more…
For the foreseeable future we are running these fantastic special offers…we’ll be adding more as we go!!!

We are delighted to be stocking Real Nappies made by Little Comfort, an Irish Company based in Co Donegal. Their nappies are made from Bamboo, a highly absorbent very eco friendly material which also happens to be really soft! Even better, it’ a one size nappy, which means it has really clever poppers for the smaller bottom and extenders for when tummies get really fat!
I have been using these nappies for over a month now, and it is so much easier than I had expected. I spent ages researching trying to find the best nappy out there, but really I was scared that even though I felt I HAD to try them out, I wouldn’t be able to make the whole soaking/washing/drying thing work. Well, I don’t know why I was so worried, it’s absolutely fine! We use them all day but not at night (not taking any risks with her waking up!). My husband finds them really easy to use. I don’t know if I found the best one, I didn’t try them all, but Little Comfort Nappies are fantastic.
We are running a great promotion at the moment, with 20% off the Full Pack and the Day Pack if you join our Baby Club (it’s free to join!). So come in and try -you’ll be just as relieved as I am not to be throwing out all those bags of nappies, I’m sure!

We love Eco Balls from Ecozone, an English company who make great eco-friendly products. Eco Balls are an alternative to laundry detergent, and from my expereince they clean pretty much everything including baby’s nappies (they are especially good for this since they are anti-bacterial).
You use 3 of them in your washing machine and together they produce ionized oxygen that activate the water molecules naturally and allows them to penetrate deep into clothing fibres to lift dirt away. One set of balls lasts 1000 washes; they soften your water which acts like fabric conditioner; on lightly soiled clothes you can use them on their own and for heavily soiled clothes just use a splash of detergent. . Great value and great for the environment too!
This month we even have a special offer – 15% off! So come and try them out!

Organico Bantry is now stocking the full range of Helios Homeopathic kits. We have the Traveller’s Kit, the Birth Kit and both the 18 and 36 Home Prescribing Kits.
Helios Homeopathic Kits are very useful for both the amateur and the experienced homeopathic user. Having used the Traveller’s Kit when adventuring in India over 10 years ago, the Birth kit 6 months ago during the birth of my daughter, and the home prescribing kit ever since, I can really say, from the heart, that they are great to have around!
Birth Kit (18 200c Remedies): €36.95
Travel Kit (36 Remedies): €52.95
Home Prescribing 18 remedy Kit €41 or 36 remedy Kit €52.95

Introducing food to babies
What and when to feed your baby is a very individual process that has to suit both parent and baby, and more often than not will be dictated by your baby’s preferences anyway. Having just negotiated and explored the world of food with my baby I wanted to share some thoughts, recipes and ideas. For all babies it is advised to avoid dairy and gluten for the first year, which suits perfectly a healthy whole food diet. It is recommended to exclusively breastfeed your baby for the first six months and then start to introduce solids, however all babies are different. My baby boy, Archer, was really interested in food by 14 or 15 weeks, so not even four months, making a goldfish mouth whenever he saw us eating which was highly amusing! He then became really hungry; waking for feeds every hour and a half in the night when he had been sleeping much better!! So I read the signs, and although I was exclusively breastfeeding, started to give him solids around 16 weeks. The WHO guidelines state that Read more…
